Friday Khutbah of Masjid Otsuka

November, Friday 4. 2022

In the name of Allah Most Gracious and Most Merciful

All praises are due to Allah. I testify that there is nothing worthy of worship except Allah the uniquely One, who has no partners in His one-ness. And I testify that the Prophet Muhammad is the slave of Allah and His Messenger.

O Servants of Allah! Allah says in the Qur’an in Surah Al-Baqarah:

Alif. Lam. Mim.”  “his is the Book (the Qur’an), whereof there is no doubt, a guidance to those who fear Allah and guard against evil”   (S.2  V.1–2)

That is, the Angel Gabriel from the Lord, upon the Prophet Muhammad SAW. Indeed, Allah swears by the Great Honour and Exalted Rank of the Honourable Qur’an. That is, well preserved and protected. Allah describes It with the most eloquent of descriptions. Among these descriptions is the fact that it is Mubin (Clear and Evident).

Allah says in the Qur’an in Surah Yusuf:

“These are the verses of the Clear and Evident Book.”   (S.12  V.1)

Its meanings are clear for those who reflect. It came down in the most exquisite and eloquent of languages and the most perfect and precise of expressions. It makes clear to people their religious and worldly affairs, calls them to that which refines their conduct and character and guides them to all that is good and wholesome for them and brings them happiness and joy. Thus, it organizes for them their relationship with their parents. Allah says in the Qur’an in Surah Al-Ahqaf:

“And We have enjoined upon man kindness and good treatment to his parents. …”  (S.46  V.15)

It regulates for them their relationship with their marital spouses. It also orders us to interact with society on the basis of trust and high moral standards. The Qur’an accompanies you in all aspects of life and presents you with the ideal way and directs you to the best conduct. Truly, those who recite the Noble Qur’an are never satiated by its recitation and always come back for more, and those who read and reflect upon It never tire of It. Through their reading and reflection upon the Qur’an, they experience stillness and calmness in their limbs and serenity and tranquility in their hearts.

Allah says in the Qur’an in Surah Az-Zunar:

Allah has revealed (from time to time) the most beautiful Message in the form of a Book, consistent with itself, (yet) repeating (its teaching in various aspects): the skins of those who fear their Lord tremble thereat; then their skins and their hearts soften and relax at the Remembrance of Allah.”   (S.39  V.23)

O Servants of Allah! Allah the Almighty has called us to contemplate His Divine Book, understand Its intent and import, comprehend Its higher purposes and objectives and ponder over Its deep and profound wisdom and treasure troves of meanings. Allah says in the Qur’an in Surah As-Sad:

“[O Muhammad! This is a Blessed Book which] We have revealed to you, that they might reflect upon its verses and that those of understanding would be reminded.”   (S.38  V.29)

We can form our character and fashion our conduct through Its morals and virtues, and thus be triumphant of Its reward and victorious of Its intercession. The Prophet SAW says: “Recite the Qur’an, for on the Day of Resurrection It will come as an Intercessor for Its companions (those who maintain companionship with It through constantly reciting It.)”

Allah says in the Qur’an in Surah Al-Muzammil:

“…And whatever good you put forward for yourselves – you will find it with Allah, better and greater in reward. And seek forgiveness of Allah. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.”   (S.73  V.20)

May the peace and the blessings of Allah be upon prophet Muhammad SAW, his family and all of his Companions. May Allah be pleased with the Rightly Guided Caliphs: Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman and Ali, and all those who will follow them in righteousness until the Day of Judgment.

O Allah! Bless us with Your love. Bless us the love of those You love.

O Allah! Accept our prayers and all our ibada.

O Allah! Guide us to the right path and make us of those on whom You bestows Your mercy.

O Allah! Accept all of our good deeds and forgive us for our sins.

Allah! Grant safety and security to everyone here in Japan as well as all over the world. Aamin ya Rabbil Aalamin.
