Friday Khutbah of Masjid Otsuka

September 2, 2022

All praises are due to Allah the Lord of all the worlds, who accepts from His slave’s deeds that are intended sincerely for His sake. I testify that there is nothing worthy of worship except Allah the uniquely One, who has no partners in His one-ness. And I testify that the Prophet Muhammad is the slave of Allah and His Messenger.

O Servants of Allah! It is clear that Allah loves and can be beloved. Allah has mentioned in many versus of Qur’an that Allah loves those who turn unto Him in repentance, those who purify themselves, those who patiently persevere (Sabreen), and the gooddoers (Al-Muhsinun).

Allah says in the Qur’an in Surah Baqarah and Surah Al-i-Imraan:

“Truly, Allah loves those who turn unto Him in repentance and loves those who purify themselves”  (S.2  V.222)

“And Allah loves Al-Muhsinun (the gooddoers)”   (S.3  V.148)

Whoever Allah loves, he will be rewarded in this life and in the hereafter.

O Servants of Allah! There are signs showing the love of Allah to His slaves. Among these signs as follows:

1. Whoever Allah loves, He protects him from the desire of this life (dunia). Allah protects him from being polluted by its sins. It does not mean that whom Allah loves, He makes them poor and whom dislike make them rich. But it means that Allah protect him from being related and busy with this life.

2. Allah makes things easy for His slave and care about him in this life and in Akherat. So when you see the person is very kind and simple in dealing with people and his wife and children, then it is one sign of Allah’s love to that person.

3. Testing his slave: Anas (Radi Allah Anhu) narrated that the prophet Mohammad SAW said, “The hardness of test of Allah is accompanied with the greatness of his reward. If Allah loves people, he tests them. The patient one, Allah will accept him. Those whom does not and pass the test Allah will not accept them and he will put his anger towards them”

Sad bin abi waqas (Radi Allah Anh) asked The Prophet SAW said, “Oh messenger of Allah who is the most people tested by Allah.”   The prophet Mohammad SAW said “The prophets then the similar then the less similarity. The slave will be examined depends on his Iman. Allah exams His slave until he walk in this earth without any sins.” [Al-termizi and Alalbani ]

4. The Good End (Husnul Khotimah) Prophet Mohammad SAW said “When Allah love some one, he makes his end good.  As he facilitate for him a good deeds at his last hour.” [Ahmed, bin Haban and Albani ]

O Servants of Allah! Allah says in the Qur’an in Surah Al-i-Imraan:

Say (O Muhammad SAW to mankind): If you (really) love Allah then follow me (i.e. accept Islamic Monotheism, follow the Quran and the Sunnah), Allah will love you and forgive you of your sins. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. ’”  (S.3  V.31)

Every person declare that he loves Allah more than he loves parents, children, and all people. As we said before that love of Allah is something in the human nature, because everyone loves those who gave him. Allah gave allot to all His servants. But is the matter only that you love Allah or there should be love from Allah to you.

Allah said in Hadith,“My slave keeps on coming closer to Me through performing Nawafil (praying or doing extra deeds besides what is obligatory) till I love him, So I become his sense of hearing with which he hears, and his sense of sight with which he sees and his hand with which he grips and his leg with which he walks; and if he asks Me, I will  give him, and if he asks My protection (refuge), I will protect him; (i.e. give him My refuge)”  Do we keep on going to be closer to Allah by performing Sunnan orNawafil.

May the peace and the blessings of Allah be upon prophet Muhammad SAW, his family and all of his Companions. May Allah be pleased with the Rightly Guided Caliphs: Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman and Ali, and all those who will follow them in righteousness until the Day of Judgment.
